English & Horse-Riding Programme

Course Code :LS 106

Accommodation:

Students on this programme reside with carefully selected Irish host families. Accommodation is offered on a full board basis. Students share a room with a student of another nationality. This allows students to experience Irish family life while continuing to put their language skills to practical use.

Activities:

Following their morning language classes, students on the English and Horse riding programme, enjoy horse riding on five afternoons per week. Horse riding is offered at all levels ensuring the programme is suited to riders from beginners’ level to advanced. These students also participate in evening activities such as karaoke, a disco and bingo as well as a full day excursion every Saturday. Under the supervision of professional trainers the students undertake riding, which is catered to their own level, and includes cross country, fun & games and stable management.

Academic:

Classes run every morning from 9am to 12.15 pm and are interactive with the main focus  on improving the students’ spoken ability and vocabulary expansion. All students undergo a placement test before starting their course. A progress test every Friday ensures that the progress of each individual is monitored on an ongoing basis. CEC teachers are native English speakers and fully qualified in the teaching of English as a foreign language. All possess a primary degree in addition to TEFL qualifications. All centres are recognised by the Irish Dept. of Education. The use of course materials is included. The average number of students per class is 10-12 with a maximum of 15.
