It was operating as a prison until it was closed in 1923. Wandering through the wings of Cork City Gaol, the atmosphere suggests you are accompanied by the shuffling feet of inmates, each representing their particular period in Irish history from pre-famine times to the foundation of the state.
Visitors are given an informative guided tour of the prison, learning what life must have been like for those unfortunate enough to end up here!
Cost: €10 to be paid by Thursday 2pm.
